HYDERABAD: The State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) on Thursday asked the Hyderabad city police to probe a report about an incident of two minor children aged below 13 years, who were not given food by their father.

The SCPCR received a complaint from a septuagenarian, that his grandchildren were not being given food and education by their father. Jagadish Naarayan (72) of Begum Bazaar in his complaint stated that after his daughter Kiran died in 2009, the children  aged 13 and 11 years were with their  father Chandrakanth.
The old man complained that his son-in-law was not providing proper food to the children and that they were not allowed to meet friends or relatives and they have been locked in the house.

“After the death of their mother, the children were not provided basic needs like food, schooling, and are not even allowed to play. They are confined to their house in Chatrinaka,”  the complainant said.
“I am very much worried about their health and their future, as I have already lost my daughter,” Jagadish said in his complaint.

The SCPCR asked the Begum Bazaar ACP to inquire into the issue and submit a report in three days.
