HYDERABAD: A division bench of Hyderabad HC on Tuesday asked petitioner A Revanth Reddy, TTDP MLA, to implead erring seed companies supplying spurious seeds against whom he is seeking action in a PIL case.

The bench comprising ACJ Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice A Shankar Narayana was dealing with PIL by Revanth Reddy complaining that TS government has not recovered the damages from seed companies for supplying fake seeds and paying compensation to farmers. Petitioner’s counsel B Rachna Reddy sought penal action against the erring seed companies for supplying spurious seeds. She sought action under the Preventive Detention Act, Revenue Recovery Act along with the Seeds Act and AP Cotton Seeds Act.

The bench pointed out that the petitioner has not arrayed any of the erring seed companies as party to the case, and without hearing them it would not pass any orders.
While adjourning the case by one week, the bench directed the petitioner to implead the seed companies.
