HGCL Scouts Project Consultant for Intelligent Transport System

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited (HGCL) of HMDA proposes to seek advisory support from consulting firms or consultants for implementation of the Intelligent Transport System (ITS) on the Outer Ring Road and within the  Hyderabad  Metropolitan Area (HMA).

HGCL will avail such services for ITS projects being taken up with financial assistance from Japan International Cooperation Agency.

Officials said HGCL has prepared a master plan for implementation of an intelligent transport system on the 158-km-long ORR. Besides, the plan envisages  improvement and modernisation of traffic and transportation system.

HGCL has invited proposals from consulting firms and consultants for selection as ITS consultant. The selected agency will assist HGCL/HMDA in the implementation of projects that have been grounded or will be grounded in future.

The consultant has to review implementation plan submitted  by ORR and city ITS contractor to HMDA/HGCL and give opinion on technical feasibility. The consultant will have to point out technical risks involved and recommend remedies.

The other functions will be supervising the work and providing advice and technical support to supervision consultant hired by HGCL for on-ground supervision of the project implementation; coordinate with the ITS contractors, and any expert consultants; providing advice on ITS aspects to be considered during the designing and implementation phases of various sub-systems under ITS projects.

The consultant should also advise HGCL during negotiations with ORR and city ITS contractor on the solution to be implemented and also review the test plan submitted by the contractor and, in case of any deficiencies in the test plan, to suggest recommendations.

The consultant should assist HGCL in technically evaluating progress  of work as per the plan proposed by the contractor and assist in testing the installed ITS sub-systems.

It should monitor the performance of traffic operations team during the first three months after the project’s commissioning. It should also assist HGCL in the preparation and finalisation of MoUs with respective departments for sharing of data and other responsibilities with regard to  ITS implementation.
