HYDERABAD: Habeebnagar police on Tuesday booked a case against a painter on charges of molesting a 10-year-old girl, at her house. A woman from New Mallepally lodged a complaint with the police stating that one of the two workers, who were hired to paint their house, had molested her daughter, when the girl went into a room to play.

The complainant stated that Amjad was painting in one of the rooms in their house in the ground floor. At around 7.30 pm, her 10-year-old daughter went downstairs to play and entered the room, where Amjad was working.

“Amjad took advantage of the situation and molested the girl. I and my mother-in-law found the door locked. When we knocked the door, Amjad opened it and my daughter came out crying. Amjad ran out of the house. On inquiry, my daughter narrated the incident of physical abuse,” said the complaintant.
A case has been registered against Amjad under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
