Krishna Tribunal verdict on October 19

HYDERABAD: The Brijesh Kumar Tribunal will give its order on Krishna river water sharing on October 19.

HM Singh, head of the office of the Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal, informed Telangana advocates on Friday that October 19 has been fixed for pronouncement of the reserved order.

Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States had approached the Brijesh Kumar Tribunal demanding project-wise allocation of Krishna river waters for all the four states, namely AP, TS, Maharashtra and Karnataka.

AP and TS told the Brijesh Kumar Tribunal that project wise allocations mentioned in the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014 was not possible till the Maharashtra and Karnataka were made parties.

However, Maharashtra and Karnataka opposed this and argued that AP Reorganisation Act was intended to AP and TS and the project wise allocation of waters should be limited to the successor states only.

The Ministry of Water Resources too gave its opinion to the Brijesh Kumar Tribunal that the AP Reorganisation Act was intended to AP and TS only. After hearing the arguments of all the four states, the Tribunal reserved its order till October 19.
