NALGONDA: Y Sai Kumar Reddy, the medical student of Osmania Medical College who committed suicide by jumping off a fifth-floor balcony, was a sensitive youth.

According to his parents, Sai had a childish mentality and would get hurt easily. When he did not get a good rank the first time he wrote Eamcet, he slipped into depression, they said.

“He got a rank of 200 in Eamcet-2 and stood 167 in Eamcet-3.  Before the announcement of results we were scared how he might react. So, we locked the balcony door to take care of our son,” the deceased’s father Prabhakar Reddy said.

Prabhakar added that twenty days ago Sai joined Osmania Medical College. On Saturday he went to Nalgonda to visit his parents and was in a bad mood. He told his mother that he had expected more from his education at OMC, but not all was well.

“Because of my height, I am asked to sit on the last seat. Thus, I can’t pay attention during regular and anatomy class,” he had reportedly told his mother.

On Monday,  he again raked up the issues he had at anatomy class and his father promised to discuss this with college officials on Monday night.  However, after dinner on Monday the boy went to his balcony and leapt out.
