Working for a private firm at Richmond Town, where one of the bombs exploded, then-engineer Sonawane Rishikesh Bhagwan, saw scenes of injured persons, seeking first aid or transport to a hospital, from his office. But, help did not come soon as people were looking for a safe exit.

The IPS probationer says: “After finishing Bachelor of Electronics I got a private job in Bengaluru. I was inspired after I saw the injured wailing for help as none dared to come forward. So, I decided to serve society.” He made three attempts with the UPSC and on the third attempt, he made it to the IPS.

The Passing Out Parade is on October 28. He also bagged the Prime Minister’s Batson and Home Ministry’s Revolver for the best all round IPS probationer in NPA.  Rishikesh Bhagawan was born and brought up at Nevasa town of Ahmednagar district in Maharashtra.

Similarly, Rakshitha K Murthy, a BTech graduate in Electronics, cracked UPSC in her third attempt. Rakshitha, whowas allotted to Telangana cadre said that she wants to bring down crime against women and children in the state.
