Ganesha in myriad forms drawing crowds at pandals in Hyderabad

Remember the Ganesha that resembled actor Prabhas carrying a gigantic Shiva linga on his shoulder in the Baahubali?

HYDERABAD: Remember the Ganesha that resembled actor Prabhas carrying a gigantic Shiva linga on his shoulder in the blockbuster movie, Baahubali, last year?  He sure did win hearts. This year, the craftsmanship of Ganesha makers in the city has gone a step higher.

Besides the regular Dasavatara Ganesha and the little Ganesha cuddled in the lap of His father, Lord Shiva, innovative idols like Mermaid Ganesha are attracting attention. Another tells the entire life story of the God all compact in an idol form.

He also has taken many more forms -- three heads and several hands, standing over a beautiful peacock, bathed in different colours on each half. In a different avatar, he spreads his arms vivaciously, either standing on top of His father’s head or is fancily placed over Lord Vishnu’s Shesha.

It is evident that a great amount of dedication, intricacy and hard work have gone into the making of these idols.

They also instil a strong sense of belief.  Sometimes just a glance is enough to generate curiosity that results in a prolonged gaze. Not to forget, the music, dance and the exciting screams of children and teenagers alike add to the city’s festive fervour. These diverse and extraordinary pandals display the people’s praise and adoration for the deity.

The prayers are sung with vigour as the kids scream with amusement and joy feeling proud of the idol which belongs to their colony or apartment.
