Tollywood promises to  stamp out drug menace

 With the questioning of 12 Tollywood personalities coming to an end, the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce, Telugu Film Producers Council, Movie Artistes Association, Telangana State Film Chamber of Commerce and Telugu Film Industry Employees Federation have issued a joint press statement, promising to take measures to stamp out the drug menace.

HYDERABAD: With the questioning of 12 Tollywood personalities coming to an end, the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce, Telugu Film Producers Council, Movie Artistes Association, Telangana State Film Chamber of Commerce and Telugu Film Industry Employees Federation have issued a joint press statement, promising to take measures to stamp out the drug menace. Leading actor Pawan Kalyan tweeted a note of appreciation for the state government and the department of prohibition and excise.


“We do not consider those indulging in substance abuse as heroes and it is sad that we have to put our heads down in shame because of certain people. Only those who are strong can withstand this humiliation. We, as an industry, will take measures to stop this,” the note added. 

Arrested SA national refuses to divulge info
A South African national Alex Victor who was caught with cocaine by Telangana Prohibition and Excise department’s State Task Force (STF) on Tuesday, had visited the city for the third time to deliver narcotics. He was caught with 10 gms of cocaine which is estimated to be worth around `60,000. “Alex refused to share names of people he was to meet here,” said V Vivek, assistant Excise superintendent at a press conference on Wednesday.

Cops to question six persons
Six persons were summoned by LB Nagar police and questioned on Wednesday in connection with the arrest of a Vijayawada-based woman and five Nigerians found with posession of narcotic substances. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), LB Nagar, M Venkateswar Rao said that they served notices to these drug users. “They clearly admitted that they have been consuming drugs from last two/three months,” the DCP said.
