HYDERABAD: Mahatma Gandhi Digital Museum Store, a mobile interactive museum on the life and times of Mahatma Gandhi, was inaugurated in the city on Tuesday. The Volvo bus, in which the museum store was set up, will be stationed at Bapu Ghat in Langar Houz for a week. Later, it will travel across the region.

It was inaugurated by Ela Gandhi, granddaughter of Mahatma Gandhi, peace activist and former member of South African parliament, along with Jayesh Ranjan, principal secretary (industries & commerce and IT) of the state government. The  Store is an initiative of Visual Quest India, a city-based design and technology firm, and Eternal Gandhi, a CSR initiative of the Aditya Birla group.

Eternal Gandhi is an initiative to spread the ideologies and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi through sale of merchandise. All the income generated from the sale of these souvenirs will go into expanding the museum further. Visual Quest India stands out in setting up interactive museums which do not have any artefacts.

“We have set up similar museums in four or five locations in the world, which are experiential in nature. They cater to all sections of the population and are designed specifically for them. For example, the experience children have is different from that of adults,” said Birad Rajaram Yajnik of Visual Quest.
