HYDERABAD: In an attempt to bring farmers’ suicides to light, city-based filmmaker Anshul Sinha has decided to make a docu-fictional film titled ‘Mitti – Back to the roots’ describing the major reasons behind the agrarian crisis in India.

He is planning to highlight 25 major issues responsible for farmers taking the drastic step, and has researched on the topic for over a year. These issues are broadly divided into three categories - economical (government policy), ecological (floods and natural disasters), and social.

Finding a producer for a film is always a big task. “We approached 22 production houses in Hyderabad and Mumbai, but no one was even allowing us to speak. Now we are raising funds through crowdfunding. Once we have sufficient amount, the production will start”, says Sinha.

We are planning to take this movie to farmers through road shows. This film will also give solutions to ryots so they can come out of their dire straits, said Sinha.

Previously, Sinha has done 41 films for which he bagged 104 Awards at various National and International film festivals. He also has 29 international nominations to his credit.
