HYDERABAD: In a fresh turn of events in the investigation into the recent death of techie K Sunitha, a telecaller with Monster.com, police now suspect it could be a case of suicide. The 34-year-old, according to a new CCTV footage from Madhapur where her charred body was found, was seen carrying a plastic can and walking on the road.

During the investigation, the police had detained one of the close friends of Sunitha on Friday for questioning. Later, they found out that the youth was not even aware of the woman’s death. “When he (Sunitha’s friend) was questioned, he told the police that he rejected the woman’s love.

He was thinking that the woman had complained against him about harassment,” said the sources, adding that now cops suspect that she could have committed suicide. According to officials, the scene of offence near the railway station where the woman’s charred body was recovered, was a regular meeting spot for Sunitha and her friend.

On Wednesday evening, Madhapur police found her body which was still burning. The cops also recovered partially burnt SIM cards, a wallet and her employee identification card from the scene of offence.

During the probe, cops extracted call data records, text messages and emails sent from Sunitha’s account to some unidentified receivers. Police had found that on February 14, Sunitha met her friend and they had an argument over marriage. They decided to meet on February 15 and when Sunitha reached Ameerpet from Secunderabad, she was picked by her friend and was taken to Madhapur.

The police then suspected that she would have been killed at the same place where her charred body was recovered. The preliminary probe had revealed that she was strangulated and then set ablaze, the sources added.
