HYDERABAD: Rohith Vemula’s mother, Radhika Vemula met Thol Thirumavalavan, president of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), a Dalit political outfit in Tamil Nadu on Saturday and spoke on the recent developments regarding the issue of Rohith’s suicide.

Munna Sannaki, close friend of Rohith and a student of University of Hyderabad who accompanied Radhika to Chennai said that the VCK president extended his support in Radhika’s struggle and promised to raise the issue at all levels. Radhika also took part in a meeting conducted in the memory of Rohith organised by students wing of the VCK in Chennai which also saw participation by Pa. Ranjith, director of movie Kabali, Thirumavalavan and other Dalit activists and writers. Radhika inaugurated the Rohith Vemula memorial library.
Dontha Prashanth, one of the Dalit PhD scholars who was suspended along with Rohith also travelled to Chennai with Radhika. He said,

“There was resounding support from the students wing of VCK who promised to fight for justice along with us.” Regarding the Guntur collector’s notice to Rohith’s family, Prashanth said that Rohith’s family will go to court against the order, but is yet to file a reply to the notice.
