HYDERABAD: The mood was electric and the temperature inside GHMC’s Badminton Court at Ameerpet in the city rose few notches, owing to the searing volleys served by the participants.

The Women’s Singles Badminton Champion tournament, an initiative of The New Indian Express to encourage talented youngsters pursue their passion, saw tremendous footfalls comprising the young and adult alike.

Taking few breaks, the participants showed their grit and vied to qualify in the league rounds.

At the day’s close, five got selected in the juniors category, and four in the seniors category for the next round of matches (including finals) scheduled to be held on March 4.

Badminton coach Venugopal said basic training sessions for kids, adults, and an exclusive ladies-only session are held at the court everyday.
