GoFundMe pages receive humungous response

Two GoFundMe pages were started after the shooting incident and nearly 24 hours later, the response received is humongous.

HYDERABAD: Two GoFundMe pages were started after the shooting incident and nearly 24 hours later, the response received is humongous. One of the pages was started by Grillot’s sister Maggie while another was started by Indians living there. The shooting has brought together Americans and Indians.
The one started by the Indian diaspora aims to raise funds for sending Srinivas Kuchibhotla’s body back to India and provide financial assistance to his family. The other, set up by Ian Grillot’s sister for paying the medical bills as he is recuperating from bullet wounds.

Both GoFundMe pages saw Indians as well as Americans generously donating. By Friday night around 10 pm, Kuchibhotla’s page generated $323,593 from 8,859 donors and Grillot’s page generated $140,416 from 4,032 donors. The original target of both pages was $150,000.

The GoFundMe page of Kuchibhotla mentioned, “Srini was the kindest person you would meet, full of love, care and compassion for everyone. He never said a word of hatred, a simple gossip, or a careless comment.”
The page by Grillot’s sister, Maggie said, “Ian found himself in the wrong place trying to be a helping hand. Ian stood up for two people being mistreated by a man who was in the wrong.”
