A group show by four artists, ongoing at VSL Visual Art Gallery, Banjara Hills, focusses on different themes.

HYDERABAD: The art show at the gallery is varied consisting of paintings by artists Hari Srinivas, Venkat Krishna, Seshu Giri Rao and Shiva.

All the artists are from Hyderabad except Shiva who is from Vijayawada. The house-turned-art-gallery, however, demands more space for display of the 50 paintings done by the artists. More works on display are of senior artist Hari Srinivas who loves to work with acrylic medium. The exhibition is supported by Sahaaya Foundation and will be on till January 10.

One of the paintings is of a little girl standing near the seashore watching the expanse of the aquamarine waters while a few clothes or maybe a large fabric of different colours is hung carelessly on the railing. The girl’s face is not towards the viewers, she’s immersed in the cyan waves.

It makes the beholder wonder what a little child might be discovering in the ocean. The artist shared, “I saw this in Cape Town and painted one of the scenes of the port city.” There’s another painting by him in the next room which is of well-lit-up room. The slanted bars of sunlight fall on walls and the floor illuminating the canvas as if the same were lit from within.

The paintings by Seshu Giri Rao are portraits of different people. On different canvases we see rural women, two scared children clinging to each other and an old man playing a tune on iktara. The shades are dark yet come alive. Artist Venkat Krishna has focussed on Krishna playing flute while a peacock looks on.
