IPS officer pedals for cashless economy

KARIMNAGAR:  To promote cashless transactions in the state, principal secretary (home) Rajiv Trivedi along with his two sons pedalled all the way from from Hyderabad to Karimnagar on Sunday.

He took five hours to cover 160 km to reach Karimnagar. En route, he promoted cashless transaction among people.

Trivedi and his sons were welcomed by students and representatives of engineering colleges in Karimnagar. When Trivedi and his sons reached Manair bridge, they were joined by school children who accompanied the trio till the police headquarters.

Addressing personnel of the vigilance and enforcement wing, the senior IPS officer said cashless transactions would bring more transparency in all kinds of  transactions. “India will be rid of corruption and the economy will grow much stronger if cashless economy is promoted in the country. Over 70 per cent of people do not reveal their financial transactions to the income tax department. If everyone pays taxes honestly, the country can become a superpower,” he said and appealed to people to support cashless transactions and help the country’s development.
