HYDERABAD: A division bench of the Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday directed the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation to file an affidavit disclosing the number of applications which are disposed of and those which are pending under the Building Regularization Scheme (BRS).

The bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice Shameem Akthar was dealing with a petition filed by the NGO Forum for Better Hyderabad. Petitioner’s counsel Sivaraju Srinivas submitted that most of the owners have applied under the BRS, though their buildings are under construction, even after the cut-off date for submission.

GHMC counsel P Kesava Rao said that they had received 1,39,095 applications and it would take some time to verify the applications and pass appropriate orders. He sought some time to file an affidavit in this regard. The bench granted three weeks’ time to file the affidavit.
