Narsingi police laxity resulted in the unfortunate incident: Family

The death of a mother and two children near Malkajgiri railway station could have been averted, had Narsingi police and government railway police officials responded efficiently, said sources.

HYDERABAD: The death of a mother and two children near Malkajgiri railway station could have been averted, had Narsingi police and government railway police officials responded efficiently, says Gouramma’s brother Sekhar, a cab driver. It was around 3.30 pm on Friday that a trans-female, Sai Bonam, noticed a depressed Gouramma on the railway tracks near Secunderabad.

She tried to stop them, but to no avail. In fact, the two children pelted stones at her. “I sensed something was wrong when I saw Gouramma’s depressed face partially covered with her saari. I asked them where they are from, what they were doing and Gouramma’s answers created more suspicion. I saw the mobile numbers on the children’s identity cards and called one of the numbers.

A woman answered my call and I informed her about the situation,” said Bonam. The trio left while she was on call. “The mother was surely depressed and the children were scared after noticing me as I look different,’’ she added. Gouramma’s brothers Swami and Sekhar, both cab drivers, came to collect the bodies on Saturday. They tried to get in touch with police on Friday evening, but it was a wasted effort, claimed Sekhar. “The house owner, where Gouramma works as a maid, was informed about their whereabouts. We tried to get in touch with her, but her phone was turned off,” shared Sekhar.

Upon receiving information, he along with his brother, Swami reached Secunderabad Railway Police. “The policeman inquired about Gouramma’s address, which is Puppalguda that comes under Narsingi Police Station limits. I was then asked to lodge a complaint there,” Swami1 said. Meanwhile, Sekhar alleged that negligence of Narsingi police and Secunderabad Railway police was the reason for the death. “If the police registered cases when we approached them, they would have been alive.

We requested police to check CCTVs installed at the railway station. But, they didn’t,” he said. SG Jagadeeshappa, DSP, incharge of Secunderabad Government Railway Police, informed that family approached them with information that the mother and sons were missing. “The Railway police collected details of missing persons and conducted searches on railway station premises,’’ informed the DS P. D Vijay Naik, sub-inspector, Narsingi said the Secunderabad Railway Police informed him about the missing persons and asked to register cases as they hailed from Narsingi police limits. However, Gouramma’s brothers said that police had information that the trio were traced at Secunderabad Railway Station and offence did not take place under Narsingi police
limits.
