First smart toilet with biodigesters to be opened in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Electronic Public Toilet (e-toilets), a first-of-its-kind modern public toilet with biodigesters exclusively designed for women will be opened in Charminar area on Friday.

The toilets, which will be inaugurated by mayor Bonthu Rammohan, are innovatively designed to fit busy areas in the twin cities. Another such e-toilet would come up near Falaknuma in few days. Men toilets would also come up in different busy places of the city soon. Such e-toilets are running successfully in Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai and Bengaluru cities.

These e-toilets are being set up under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and few corporates have come forward to extend support to GHMC in setting up the toilets. The firms which are installing the toilets have to maintain and operate them for two years, GHMC commissioner B Janardhan Reddy said.
More toilets to come

More e-toilets would be set up at tourist and other places alike. The places are Charminar, Golkonda Fort, Seven Tombs, near Secunderabad Railway station, Necklace Road, Tank Bund Road and busy commercial centres etc.
