HYDERABAD: All eyes and ears are on the details that the drug peddlers would divulge. Under pressured questioning of Prohibition and Excise department, a few drug peddlers are finding space to indulge in vanity of holding high profile clients to whom they supplied narcotics and psychotropics. Sources in the department said that some peddlers were taking pride in name-dropping.

However, it was learnt that investigators are not getting carried away and they are particular about evidence against every name. “We sent notices to people whose names figured at the top. This is done to cross check their involvement,” sources in the department said.

Blissfully ignorant and on high

The news on drug seizures is beamed in news channels and has been getting widespread coverage in newspapers. Yet some of the peddlers who were caught were ignorant about the entire episode. Some who were caught after Calvin Mascarenhas, said they had no clue that so many people were caught.

Officials said that one of the accused, Avinash, was high when caught. Against expectations that one would be nervous for getting caught and produced before media, he was in jovial mood when presented during a press conference.
