HYDERABAD: Police is yet to solve a case in which an assistant sub-inspector of police had allegedly separated his daughter from her Bengali husband. The 28-year-old IT professional from West Bengal Gunjan Sarkar fell in love with the daughter of policeman working in Chief Minister’s camp office here. Later, they got married in West Bengal against the wishes of the girl’s parents. The marriage was registered by West Bengal officials on May 29.

Recently, the ASI Satyam and his family members convinced the couple that they would once again perform the marriage as per Telugu culture and forcibly took away Shruthi from West Bengal. Since then, Shruthi has not been in touch with Gunjan. As Shruthi’s family members refused to talk to Gunjan, he lodged a complaint with Golconda police seeking assistance to know Shruthi’s whereabouts. The police received complaint on June 8 and issued an acknowledgment. But, took no action.

Vexed over negligence of Golconda police, Gunjan’s friends tweeted Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Sharma. They also submitted audio clippings of conversations of Shruthi with her family members who threatened the couple. The DGP immediately responded and directed Hyderabad police to look into the issue.

“Shruthi’s father Satyam and his family members strongly objected my marriage with Shruthi because I am not Telugu,” Gunjan told Express. Golconda inspector Syed Fayaz said he did not receive any complaint from Gunjan. However, the ASI of Golconda G Rafi had called Gunjan and asked him to come to police station after Shruthi’s brother complained against Gunjan that Gunjan had threatened him.
“I received a call from Golconda ASI who asked me to come to police station. If I had gone to the police station, Shruthi’s parents would have killed me,” Gunjan said.

SR Nagar inspector Mohammed Waheeduddin said they called Shruthi’s father Satyam to come to police station to get details from him. “Satyam’s son said that his father is not well and he came to the police station instead. We will collect details about the issue and take action,” he said.

Turn of events
Another turn has come in the case. Unknown persons had reportedly made an attempt to barge into the rented house of the husband who resides near Golconda
