HYDERABAD: Buoyed with the successful implementation of e-office in engineering wing of Uppal circle, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) decided to replicate the model to other circles of GHMC soon.
The physical file transaction would be dispensed with and all file transactions would be carried out electronically now for the engineering wing to keep a check on corruption and tab on erring officials.
There has been a lot of criticism about substandard quality of engineering works, more specifically about road laying works. Newly laid roads are getting damaged within a few days due to poor quality of works by some contractors of GHMC leading to huge losses.
Also, there are some works which don’t not require road relaying or recarpeting, running into few lakhs of rupees, are getting sanctioned with connivance of some GHMC officials and contractors.
To maintain transparency in future, GHMC commissioner B Janardhan Reddy decided to extend the e-office to all GHMC circles.
