HYDERABAD: A workshop on conservation of energy and utilisation of LED bulbs in households was held under the chairmanship of GHMC commissioner B Janardhan Reddy here on Sunday.
The GHMC has created a forum for creating awareness about energy conservation by promoting LEDs in place of conventional lights by inviting the suppliers, energy analysts and residential welfare associations (RWAs), and electrical engineers of GHMC and Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana (TSSPDCL) to discussions on conservation of energy in households.

PN Rao and Gopal Kirishna from the Institute of Engineers made a PowerPoint presentation on conservation of energy.
The glow of an 9-watt LED bulb is equivalent to a 60/100-watt incandescent bulb and a 18-watt LED tubelight to a 40-watt fluorescent tubelight.
By using LEDs, energy can be saved by 60 per cent and the electricity bill reduced.
