HYDERABAD: A picture tweeted by a netizen showing a policeman throwing watermelons from a pushcart has led to a tweet from minister K T Rama Rao, requesting Director General of Police Anurag Sharma to take corrective action on the incident.

The incident took place on March 15, when Uppal traffic inspector E Jangaiah was on VIP bandobust at Uppal. A passerby noticed the inspector’s highhandedness and uploaded on the internet.

The netizen however, did not stop with that and alerted minister KTR through Twitter, asking ‘where is the friendly police?’ and on Tuesday, KTR tweeted requesting the DGP to take necessary action.

Following that, the Uppal inspector was served a notice to give an explanation for his highhandedness towards the street vendor and damaging his property.
