HYDERABAD: The parents of a 26-day-old infant have lodged a complaint with the Charminar police claiming that their baby was exchanged at the hospital on the day she was born.

The police have sent the DNA samples of the parents and the baby to the FSL for examination. Tamina Sultana told the police on Friday  that she was admitted to the Modern Government Maternity Hospital at Petlaburj on April 11 and delivered a baby girl on April 12.

There was another woman, Yadamma, on the adjacent bed, who also delivered a baby girl around the same time.   “Sultana claims that the nurses took the babies for a bath and that is when they were exchanged. Sultana noticed the change later and alerted the hospital staff.

A blood test was conducted and the doctor informed us the baby belonged to Sultana but the parents were not convinced, police said.
