Two held for attempting to rape Khammam girl

Dundigal police on Thursday arrested two persons for attempting to rape a girl during the wee hours of Wednesday near Bowrampet forest.

HYDERABAD: Dundigal police on Thursday arrested two persons for attempting to rape a girl during the wee hours of Wednesday near Bowrampet forest. Miscreants allegedly took her into bushes and threatened and manhandling her boyfriend.

Jangareddy from Bowrampet village was going to Dundigal police station to collect his stolen phone. On the way, near Bowrampet forest, he heard a girl screaming for help. He alerted the cops. The police on reaching the spot, caught Joginder Paul Singh, while his friend Sohail (26) initially managed to flee, but was apprehended later. The woman appeared to be traumatised with her dress torn and a man was also lying in the bushes with limbs tied and gagged.  The police then sent her to Gandhi hospital for medical examination and based on her complaint, booked a case under sections 366, 342, 323, 376 rw 511, 506 rw 34 of IPC and 31 of SC & ST (prevention of atrocities) Act.  The woman from Khammam had come to Hyderabad to look for a job along with her friend, Vinod Kumar on May 5. Kumar made her stay at his cousin’s house. On night of May 10, Vinod and his cousin quarrelled and he decided to take the girl to his house. The incident took place while they stopped by the road to chat.
