Hyderabad police rescue woman abducted over loan dispute, three arrested

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad police on Wednesday rescued a watchman’s wife who was abducted by a cab driver over a loan dispute on Monday night. Three men were arrested while three other accused are on the run.

Police said the car driver and prime accused, Medipalli Srinivas, said he had given a hand loan of Rs 4 lakh to K Srinivas Rao, a watchman in DD Colony, Amberpet in 2010. The woman was abducted and assaulted after her husband failed to repay the loan.

"As per the plan, the accused went to Srinivas Rao’s house in a car (TS 08 UE 0466) on May 15 and on motor cycles and forcefully abducted Rao’s, wife K Nagamani, and took her to Nizamabad. Her son Barshis (15) noticed that his mother was kidnapped by miscreants and chased them. However, the accused escaped. When the incident took place, Srinivas Rao was not at his residence," B Sumathi, deputy commissioner of Police (north zone) said.

The two other arrested people are Chilkalpalle Sairam (22), a student from Ramanthapur and Avileni Raji Reddy (27), a marketing personnel from Dilsukh Nagar. Meanwhile, Medipalli Satyanarayana, Venkat and Sai Swaroopan are absconding.

During the investigation, Amberpet Police visited the scene and used CCTV footage to track the offenders. By adopting innovative techniques, they apprehended the gang near Tarnaka here, while they were heading towards Nizamabad, Sumathi said. She added that the accused have confessed to the crime.
