Woman cop to face probe for posing as protester at Dharna Chowk

Lake police inspector K Sreedevi was on Tuesday relieved from her duties a day after she had been found carrying placards demanding shifting of Dharna Chowk during a protest at Indira Park on Monday.

HYDERABAD: Lake police inspector K Sreedevi was on Tuesday relieved from her duties at the  station and attached to the Control Room a day after she had been found carrying placards demanding shifting of Dharna Chowk during a protest at Indira Park on Monday.


She was asked to keep a watch on anti-social elements during the protests but she  allegedly impersonated as a protester and held a placard. The media caught her red-handed.

According to the orders issued by Hyderabad police on Tuesday, Sreedevi would remain with the Control Room till completion of an inquiry ordered against her. 


A press release issued by central zone DCP’s office said as part of the bandobust duties at Dharna Chowk in view of the protests planned by the Dharna Chowk Parirakshana Committee and the local residents, police personnel in mufti were deployed to keep a watch on the protesters.

“It has come to our notice that she was found holding a placard among the protesters. An inquiry has been ordered,” said DCP D Joel Davis.
