Traumatised victim says thought of children helped her survive

Lying in the emergency ward, just minutes before getting her scans checked, the 35-year-old who was raped on Monday night, was barely able to speak.

HYDERABAD: Lying in the emergency ward, just minutes before getting her scans checked, the 35-year-old who was raped on Monday night, was barely able to speak.

“I was walking home after work and they gagged me and took me into the jungle. One of them raped me and hit me with a stick,” she said remembering the scattered details in a voice barely audible. Unable to move her bruised hands, the physical pain evident in her teary eyes, the woman did make an attempt to recall specific details.

“One of them was brutal. He assaulted me. I cannot recall their faces, it was dark,” she said.
A junior doctor came by to test the intensity of her pains. Screaming continuously, during the simple medical examination, where the doctor only pressed various parts of her body, she started to writhe in pain. “The injury on her head is not severe, but her body is severely bruised,” said the doctor.

The woman recollected, “I was battered and fallen when I remembered that I have to take care of my children which motivated me to walk out of the area.”

Poor response
