HYDERABAD: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday finally cleared ambiguity over the construction of new Secretariat on Parade grounds being used for building of new secretariat.

Campaign by several joggers, walkers and sports enthusiast, running for the last four days, saw their voice to ‘save Parade grounds’. They heaved a sigh of relief after CM announced that it was Bison Polo grounds that was asked for relocating Secretariat.

Addressing a press conference, the CM clarified that Parade Grounds was never a part of their request to the central government. He also said that there was a need to construct a new secretariat along with a new State Assembly, Central Hall and Council Building.

The new revelation makes it clear that Gymkhana grounds would not be used for construction of the new proposed secretariat. “Parade ground will remain Parade grounds, it is the Bison polo grounds that was asked for as it lying waste and was not being used even by the military,” said KCR.

However, opposition Congress party still has its doubts over this shift. The party workers are still seeking for an explanation on the shift. “KCR is a tughlaq, he acts out of his own wish and will and doesn’t care about the people,” said Marri Shashidhar Reddy, senior Congress leader.Gymkhana grounds is about 20 acres and Bison Polo grounds about 30 acres. Both grounds are separated by a drainage canal.
