In surprise late-night raid, Telangana Revenue department seals Wakf Board office

The raid follows a reported review meeting held at the CM’s official Pragati Bhawan residence during which KCR was unsatisfied with the answers he received from Wakf board officials.

HYDERABAD: Telangana State Revenue officials, reportedly on orders from Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, sealed the office of the Telangana State Wakf Board in Hyderabad during a late night raid on Tuesday. Heavy police deployment was seen in connection to this raid outside the Hajj house at Nampally in the city.

The raid takes place the night before Assembly is scheduled to discuss minority welfare on Wednesday.

The raid follows a reported review meeting held at the CM’s official Pragati Bhawan residence during which KCR was unsatisfied with the answers he received from Wakf board officials with regards to recent disputes. Orders were thereafter passed to revenue officials to seal the second section of Wakf board office, housed at Haj House building.

The first, second, third, fourth, seventh and eighth Floors of the building were sealed.

Hyderabad Collector Yogitha Rana, RDO Chandrakala , ex-CEO Asadullah, present CEO Mannan Farooqui, Minorities Welfare secretary Omar Jaleel all reached the building. All the records have been safely sealed for a probe. 

Sources said Wakf officials have allegedly been found to have been involved in encroachments.
