Girl with rare disorder admitted to Gandhi Hospital

A 19-year-old girl who is suspected to be suffering from rare disorder known as Mucopolysaccharidosis, is admitted at Gandhi Hospital.

HYDERABAD: A 19-year-old girl who is suspected to be suffering from rare disorder known as Mucopolysaccharidosis, is admitted at Gandhi Hospital. Doctors from the hospital said that the treatment costs around `3.5 crore per annum as the enzyme doses needed for treatment costs in lakhs. 

However, superintendent of the hospital Dr P Shravan Kumar said that their first priority is to evaluate if the patient M Naga Sairamya is suffering from any immediate life threatening condition. In those suffering from the rare condition, long chain of sugar molecules called Mucopolysaccharidosis gets stored in body cells. Skeletal deformities and problems with vision, are recorded. Besides, organs become enlarged.
