HYDERABAD: A drunken brawl over financial matters led to a man killing his brother-in-law in city on November 12. Chaithanyapuri police investigating the case concluded that he was murdered in the aftermath of a heated argument regarding the victim’s non-repayment of `7,000 handloan.The accused Sajan Kumar (22) is a native of Bihar and has been working in Hyderabad. About two months back, Sajan, who was working as a waiter at a bar, left his job. He then moved to Rakesh’s (his wife’s brother) room at Champapet. He was underdoing severe financial crunch, so he asked Rakesh to give back the money so that he can go to his native Bhalua village, Bihar.

Meantime, on November 12, Sajan while going out of the room in search of a job, `110 to Rakesh to get liquor for the night. After working as a labourer at a hotel, he went to the room and consumed liquor along with Rakesh.

During their conversation, Sujan asked Rakesh to give him the money, for which the latter reacted fiercely and abused the former. Enraged Sujan hit his brother-in-law with a stone found in the room.  He then strangulated Rakesh and dragged the body for some distance and put it near a gate and made hue and cry telling that Rakesh was beaten by unknown persons. The injured victim was rushed to Gandhi Hospital, where he died.

Based on the clues, Sujan was apprehended. He confessed to having committed the offense and misleading the investigation. He has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody on Saturday by the Chaitanyapuri police.
