HYDERABAD: A notorious history sheeter, who was arrested for allegedly threatening a landlord over sale of a land, was produced before a magistrate on Sunday and sent to prison on judicial remand.

The SR Nagar police arrested Tannu, along with 12 accomplaices, for allegedly threatening his neighbour with dire consequences. However, Tannu alleged that he was tortured physically by the SR Nagar police and filmed the alleged injuries on his mobile phone and sent the footage to his family members. Rao said that a history sheet on him is being maintained by the SR Nagar police. He had been detained and was released from jail recently. A person lodged a complaint that Tannu tried to extort money from his neighbour and, when the latter refused to meet his demand, he threatened him with dire consequences. “We have asked the West Zone DCP to inquire into the incident and submit a report,’’ Rao said.
