Seven Inspector Generals on task, government boosts security for high profile GES

HYDERABAD: Four days ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Hyderabad to take part in the Global Entrepreneurship Summit and also inaugurate the Hyderabad Metro Rail, the Telangana state government has appointed seven Inspector General rank officers to supervise the security, traffic and overall tour of the PM and Ivanka Trump, advisor and daughter of the US President Donald Trump. The government has also brought in four superintendents of police rank officers to coordinate with the officials of Special Protection Group, United States Secret Service, US Consulate and Internal Security Wing officials.

Modi’s flight, which is expected to land at Begumpet Airport, would be accompanied by two Indian Air Force choppers. From there he would reach Miyapur in another chopper to inaugurate the Metro Rail station before heading to the HICC for GES inaugural session and then to Falaknuma Palace for dinner.
According to the senior police officials of the state, IG Anil Kumar would be supervising the security arrangements of the Hyderabad Metro Rail programme while IG Stephen Raveendra would be heading the security at Hyderabad International Convention Centre, where the GES-2017 would be inaugurated. 

The government has also decided to pool in four SP rank officers namely Avinash Mohanty, N Prakash Reddy, N Koti Reddy and K Babu Rao, to assist the major teams by coordinating with the teams of SPG, ISW, USSS and US Consulate. The Hyderabad city police commissioner VV Srinivas Rao issued orders asking the west zone and north zone DCPs to deploy forces at the 13 Metro Rail stations, where operations would be functional from November 28. 

Each station would consist of one assistant sub-inspector or head constable rank officer, and two police constables working in each shift, who would work under the supervision of Hyderabad Metro Rail SP Balakrishna. The security personnel will coordinate with traffic, central crime station, task force, special operations team and others to provide security at the stations falling within Hyderabad limits. The Cyberabad police have already set up a special command control centre at the commissionerate headquarters.

Metro stations that will go live
The 13 metro rail station that would be functional from Nov 28 in Hyderabad are ESI, SR Nagar, Ameerpet, Begumpet, Prakash Nagar, Rasoolpura, Paradise, Parade Grounds, Secunderabad East, Mettuguda, Tarnaka, Habsiguda, NGRI. They will be under city police purview. 

16 US snipers take position ahead of GES
As part of the security measures taken by the US Secret Service and the Federal Bureau of Investigation to guard Ivanka Trump, 16 snipers have been brought in from the US to Hyderabad. The snipers have reportedly spotted the places of positioning.
