BENGALURU: A 48-year-old woman was arrested at the Kempegowda International Airport on Thursday for allegedly attempting to smuggle four gold biscuits weighing 466g worth over `14 lakh.
Poonselvi Narayanakumar, a native of Dindivanam, Tamil Nadu, had hidden the biscuits in her rectum, said a member of Air intelligence Unit of Customs.

According to Customs officials, the woman arrived at Bengaluru airport by an Emirates flight from Dubai around 3.10am on Thursday. Officials suspected that she was carrying illicit items. They checked her baggage, but did not find anything. They then carried out a body search, and four gold biscuits were found concealed in her rectum.

Narayankumar worked as a house maid. Her relative had promised her a job in Dubai and helped her settle there. While working in Dubai, a person lured Poonselvi by promising her `25,000 in return for carrying the biscuits. According to the plan, she was to hand over the biscuits to a person who would wait outside the airport. The person was supposed to call her on her mobile phone after she landed in Bengaluru.
