HYDERABAD: Multi storied building approval procedures have been simplified for the convenience of citizens of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).GHMC has decentralised the approval of building permissions for residential buildings and apartments in the site area below 750 sq mts with stilt plus five upper floors to the zonal offices instead of making rounds to the GHMC head office. The GHMC standing committee has given green signal to the proposal submitted by GHMC Town Planning on Thursday.
The zonal offices should dispose the building applications by placing the proposals in the zonal building committee to be held every Tuesday.Earlier, GHMC zonal offices were entitled to approve residential building permissions for stilt plus four floors in 1,000 sq.mts. The decision to delegate powers to zonal offices was taken as the GHMC has taken up Strategic Road Development Plan.The Town Planning section is involved in preparation of road development plans, acquisition of properties under SRDP project, identification and taking over possession of lands and planning and designs.
Further, the head office has a major role in policy and decision making process and a vital role to play on development planning related works and as such there is a need to strengthen the zonal offices, GHMC officials said.GHMC has brought online building approval system called Development Permission Management System (DPMS) in June 2016, wherein all the approvals relating to building permission are approved through Auto DCR applications which is facilitating in quick scrutiny process of building applications.
