SPDCL employees’ strike over promotions continue in Hyderabad

Around 300 employees working for SPDCL, who went on an indenfinite strike last night, are still continuing their protest against the stalling of promotions of engineers.

HYDERABAD: Around 300 employees working for Southern Power Distribution Company Ltd (SPDCL), who went on an indenfinite strike last night, are still continuing their protest against the stalling of promotions of engineers.

Recently, a High Court single judge bench issued orders against the proposed promotions of the electricity engineers.

As a result, five employees’ unions launched an indefinite strike on Thursday, which continued on Friday too. Around 1,200 AP native employees, relieved by the TS Discoms, who did not join in AP approached the court against giving promotions to the TS employees.

The AP employees’ demand is that their seniority too should be considered for giving promotions.

The future of AP origin power employees has been hanging in balance as both AP and TS failed to take any decision on their allotment to any state. As a result, both the states are paying salaries to them.
