Hyderabad CBI constable booked

A police constable attached to Central Bureau of Investigation, Hyderabad, along with his wife Kavita has been booked for amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

HYDERABAD: A police constable attached to Central Bureau of Investigation, Hyderabad, along with his wife Kavita has been booked for amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. Subhash Chander, who maintained a balance of `4,688 in his saving bank (salaried) account at the beginning of check period as on April 1, 2012, has amassed illegal assets worth more than `1 crore. The accused is also found to have invested huge amount in setting up a medical store in Delhi on his wife’s name.
In 2015, Subhash Chander purchased a property on his wife’s name in Sonipet of Haryana by paying `1.02 crore, ou of which he paid `92.20 lakh in cash.
Officials of CBI who kept a close vigil on constable’s money transactions, found out that he amassed illegal assets while working as a constable in Hyderabad CBI office. Following the information, CBI, New Delhi officials registered cases against him and his wife under Sec 13 (1) (e) read with 13 (2) of Prevention of Corruption, 1988 and under Sec 109 of IPC read with 13 (1) (e) punishable under Sec 13 (2) of Prevention of Corruption Act on Kavita.

According to sources, Subhash indulged in corrupt and illegal activities during April 1, 2012 to March 31, 2017 while working as a constable in Hyderabad CBI office. Further, it is revealed that he had a bank balance of `1.30 lakh in his saving bank account with the SBI as on March 31, 2017 (end of check period). It shows that he amassed assets worth `1.02 crore in his name and his wife. He had assets (SBI salary account) of `4,688 at the beginning of check period as on April 1, 2012 and total salary income during the check period (April 1, 2012 to March 31, 2017) found was as `23.10 lakh.
