HYDERABAD: A 25-year-old housewife was allegedly murdered and burnt by her techie husband at home on Sunday. Dismissing the claims of accused M Rushi Kumar that it was a case of self-immolation, LB Nagar ACP P Venugopala Rao told media that the crime scene did not appear as that of a suicide, but the woman could have been killed.

Techie Rushi Kumar married Harika two years ago. Rushi was working with a company in city, while Harika got a seat in Bachelor of Dental Surgery at Kamineni Medical College.Rushi who was reportedly not happy with his wife not securing a MBBS seat, used to fight with her. The neighbours have noticed them fighting. On Sunday night, Rushi called her mother and informed her that she immolated herself by pouring kerosene. Harika’s family rushed and found her dead. Harika’s parents alleged that he killed her and then burnt her. They alleged that he had been harassing her for few months. “Since marriage, my daughter is living in a hostel as he was forcing her to study and crack MBBS. When we requested him to be together, he said he would live with her only if she secures a MBBS seat,” said Harika’s mother. “Rushi has extra marital affairs. He never cared for her. He only told that she washed clothes and was about to dry them, but suddenly she committed suicide. It is a planned murder,” alleged Harika’s elder sister.
