HYDERABAD: TS government on Tuesday told Hyderabad HC that Central government, in principle, agreed to transfer Bison Polo grounds and Gymkhana ground in Secunderabad for the construction of the new Secretariat and other buildings. In this regard, TS advocate general D Prakash Reddy handed over the copy of the order issued by Defence ministry to the division bench dealing with cases filed challenging the decision of the Centre to transfer Bison Polo and Gymkhana grounds to TS government.
The advocate general submitted that TS government has taken up this project to ease traffic congestion in the cantonment area. The Centre has not yet alienated the grounds in favour of TS government, he noted. Petitioners’ counsels contended that neither the State nor the Centre could destroy the available lung space. The bench directed state and Centre to file counter affidavits on the issue and posted the matter to Oct 10 for hearing.
