HYDERABAD: In yet another shocking incident, a 38-year-old woman was allegedly raped and bludgeoned to death by unidentified persons. Her body was reportedly set ablaze in a GHMC park near Sivarampally railway station in Mailardevpally on Friday night. The woman was first taken to the isolated area, sexually assaulted and then killed. The accused tried to erase the evidence by burning the body, police said. On Friday night, the residents of Raghavendra Colony in Sastripuram saw flames erupting from the park and alerted the police. After the flames were doused, police noticed the body of a woman at around 10.30 pm.
Dog squad and clues team were immediately pressed into service. A boulder with blood stains was recovered from there and the body was found a few feet away. Rajendranagar ACP P Ashok said after collecting the clues and analysing the footage of the CCTV cameras installed at various places, the deceased woman has been identified as Padma, wife of Tirupati, resident of Aramghar X roads in Rajendranagar.
The probe revealed Padma, Tirupati and Vishnu, an acquaintance of the couple, went to a toddy shop on Friday. After having toddy, they hired an auto back, but Padma and Vishnu got down midway. “Padma and Vishnu got down stating they were going in search of a job,” police said quoting Tirupati. “We believe the accused would have killed the woman after sexually assaulting her and later set her ablaze,” police said.A case under Section 302 (murder) and 201 of IPC was registered against Vishnu. Efforts are on to trace Vishnu, cops said.
