HYDERABAD: Those using private buses for their travel to other States will now need to reach out to their buses parked beyond ORR from Thursday. Transport minister P Mahender Reddy on Wednesday cracked the whip on private bus operators banning them from within city limits. The minister issued the order citing that the private buses have been disrupting traffic in the city. TSRTC is expected to fill in any gap in transport options for commuters to reach the private buses parked beyond ORR.

The minister said that special attention will be taken to coordinate between TSRTC and the transport department. However, private operators say that there are already time restrictions put in place for private buses entering the city. “Private buses enter the city after 10 pm in night and leave before 8 am in morning, this rule already exists in Hyderabad. This is why we do pick-ups using mini-vans for our passengers from city,” said Praveen, spokesperson for Orange Travels.
