HYDERABAD: Five outsourcing health assistants and two data entry operators working in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) were removed from the works assigned through the existing agencies with immediate effect for fake birth certificates scam in GHMC.

Health Assistants  Kanna Rao (Alwal Circle),  A Raju and Y Ramakrishna and  Bapu Naidu (Circle 18) and Nani Babu (Quthbullapur) while two data entry operators Bhau Prakash (Quthbullapur) and Kiran Kumar (Secunderabad)  were removed. However, no action was initiated against GHMC officials for absorbing the accused outsourced staff and paying salaries to them.   For absorbing the corrupt staff back into the service who were working in Quthbullapur, Alwal and other GHMC circles, there are allegations that some GHMC officials at the head office collected huge amounts running into few lakhs from the them.   

Over a dozen persons, including GHMC health assistants, were arrested for involvement in a racket that issued birth certificates to applicants fraudulently. The Rachakonda police found that the gang, assisted by 14 agents had issued more than 2,000 such certificates in last three years.The GHMC Commissioner  B Janardhan Reddy said that GHMC would not spare any staff or officials found involved in corrupt practices.

Hyderabad: All the 15 GHMC Standing Committee members would receive smart and classy Apple iphone with other accessories costing around `17 lakh. Each smart phone with accessories costs around Rs 1.15 lakh. The Mayor approved the proposal on Thursday.

Road widening: 8 shops demolished at Bolarum
The Secunderabad Cantonment Board on Thursday demolished eight shops at Lakadawala crossroads in Bolarum for free traffic movement. The shops that encroached on the SCB roads were pulled down. The present road at Lakadawala to Dovton Bazar is 20 feet wide. The SCB has proposed to widen it to 50 feet.
