Defections: ‘Plea against Telangana CM N Chandrababu Naidu not maintainable’

A division bench of the High Court on Monday opined that the petition filed against AP chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu was not maintainable.

HYDERABAD: A division bench of the High Court on Monday opined that the petition filed against AP chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu was not maintainable. The bench, however, posted the matter to April 25 to hear senior counsel CV Mohan Reddy who will appear for the petitioner.

The bench of justices V Ramasubramanian and J Uma Devi was dealing with a petition filed by V Satish Kumar from West Godavari district seeking action against TDP president Naidu for allegedly encouraging defections to his party from YSRC. He also wanted court directions restraining the defector ministers and MLAs from discharging their duties.

It may be recalled that when the above petition came up for hearing before the bench headed by acting chief justice Ramesh Ranganathan recently, the ACJ recused himself from hearing the case on the ground that he had in the past appeared for Naidu in a case, and directed the registry to post the matter to another bench.
