Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation clearing nalas at brisk pace

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has identified 12,122 properties which have come up on open nalas have started removing them at a brisk pace.  

HYDERABAD: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has identified 12,122 properties which have come up on open nalas have started removing them at a brisk pace.The civic body had removed 938 structures in 2016 and another 122 structures in 2017, and, this year it has removed 163 properties so far in 17 nalas in south, central, west and north zones.

Further the state government had issued orders for promoting and utilising Transfer Development Rights (TDR) which in these cases was considered equivalent to 200 per cent of area surrendered to the GHMC free of cost. As per the government orders the GHMC has initiated action for issuing TDR to private property owners affected due to  nala widening. The GHMC will also facilitate for providing RCC slabs on nala portion wherever the property retains in the area.

Critical bottlenecks have been identified for immediate widening of 46 nalas. In this connection, action has been initiated for removal of properties of critical bottlenecks of nalas for free flow of water. This year 17 nalas will be cleared of obstructions which include  Kalaniketan to river Musi missing links, tunneling of pipe drain at Nawab Saheb Kuta, construction of stormwater drain from Qayamatnagar to Fort View colony, Barlakunta to Khajaguda cheruvu, Hafeezpet cheruvu to Patel cheruvu and Deeptisrinagar cheruvu to Gangaram cheruvu. Barlakunta to Khajaguda Cheruvu, Hafeezpet Cheruvu to Patel Cheruvu, Patel Cheruvu to Madinaguda confluence, Madinaguda cheruvu to Gangaram cheruvu, Deepthisrinagar to Gangaram cheruvu, Saki cheruvu to Gangaram drain.

KTR to attend listing ceremony of GHMC bonds
Hyderabad:  Listing ceremony of  municipal bonds of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will be witnessed by municipal administration minister KT Rama Rao at 8.30 am on February 22 at GHMC head office.  The GHMC could successfully raise `200 crore as the first tranche of funds required for the Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP), through issue of municipal bonds.
