HYDERABAD: A 35-year-old software engineer from Kurnool died in an accident after his bike rammed a police patrolling vehicle at Hafeezpet on Friday night. “The rider’s helmet broke as he fell on the ground. He received severe injuries to his head,” said Miyapur police.

Sainath Chowdhary (35), a native of Jupadu Bungalow village in Kurnool district, was working in a multi-national company located in Raheja Mindspace IT Park in Hi-Tech city of Hyderabad. On Friday, at around 11.30 pm, Sainath finished his work and was heading home on his bike.  When Sainath reached Hafeezpet area, he crashed into a police patrolling vehicle which was taking ‘U’ turn. As a result of the high speed, Sainath was flung into the air and he fell at a distance. Police personnel immediately rushed Sainath to a nearby hospital where he succumbed.

Miyapur inspector Harishchandra Reddy said the techie was at a high speed and did not notice the police vehicle which was taking a turn to go towards Miyapur police station side. Though he was wearing a helmet, he suffered injuries and died.  “The helmet was still latched to his head, but it had broken due to the impact of the fall as he landed on his head,” said the inspector.  In another over-speeding accident in Shamshabad area, a mechanical engineer working in Saudi Arabia died after his bike rammed a tractor. The victim identified as Mohammed Muztabad Ahmed (25) was heading towards the city from Shamshabad side on a bike when the accident took place.
