HYDERABAD: IN a shocking incident, a 16-year-old girl living in Shamshabad, who allegedly fell in love with her tuition teacher, was forced into child marriage by her parents. Though police foiled the marriage plans, the girl expressed concern that her parents could again attempt to get her married off. She has been shifted to a care home.

Police said, the girl had completed her SSC. While she was in school, two years ago, she became friends with a Vidya Volunteer. Later, he quit working with schools and his own tuition centre. The girl then started taking tuition at his centre and fell in love with him.

When her parents found out, they warned the teacher in the presence of community elders. Her parents, meanwhile, fixed her marriage. However, the girl did not give in to pressure and stood firm saying she wanted to complete her education and get married to her lover after turning major.
