Two minor girls sexually assaulted

Two minor girls aged below 10 were allegedly sexually assaulted by their neighbours in two separate incidents in the city on Sunday.

HYDERABAD: Two minor girls aged below 10 were allegedly sexually assaulted by their neighbours in two separate incidents in the city on Sunday.  Both the accused were detained by police for questioning and cases were registered against them under the POCSO Act.

In the first instance in Banjara Hills, according to police,  a minor girl was sexually assaulted inside the bathroom by her neighbour Pranay.  

He tried to gag her but she somehow managed to escape.  Police said the girl fell unconscious after escaping and was shifted to a hospital. Later she told her parents about the incident, who in turn lodged a  police complaint.

Police registered a case under Section 342 (Punishment for wrongful confinement), 352 (Punishment for assault or criminal force otherwise than on grave provocation), 376 (1) (punishment of rape) of IPC and Section 3 read with 4 of POCSO Act-2012.

In the second incident, a driver (38), also assaulted a minor girl sexually in SR Nagar. The incident came to light after the girl informed the matter to her parents. When parents confronted the driver, who was their neighbour,  he denied it.

The parents lodged a complaint with the SR Nagar police. Based on the complaint, police registered case under POCSO Act against the driver.

In both cases, the children were assaulted by people they knew - both were neighbours in this case
